Playing ketchup, or is it catsup....hmmm catch up, yeah thats it!

Okay, so I am not much of a blogger. I suppose posting on a more consistent basis would be preferable...but if no one is following....what can it hurt?

DT is working on a new tune right now. It is the first tune to come out of the new Distant Towers studio south. It wasn't totally recorded there, only parts. But the initial ideas were done there and we worked out the final structure in our last jam session as well as laying down some scratch guitars and final bass tracks.

The song will be called Hello and we hope to have it finished in the next couple of weeks, or sooner. This one is a bit unusual in that I (Tony) am doing the lead vocals. I also wrote the lyrics. It stemmed from an idea that I had on acoustic guitar with a simple melody. Tom encouraged me to develop it and gave me some pointers along the way. While he worked on Soft as a Stone, I was developing Hello. Once the final song structure was arrived at, Tom decided to dust off his guitar and lay down the lead on this one. Actually there wasn't a ton of dust on his guitar as he added some really cool guitar swells at the mid point of Soft as a Stone. So that rounds out the unusual aspects of this latest, almost done tune.

I will post here as soon as the song is available at the website.

Bounce CD

The new MP3 player for DT's second CD called Bounce is up and running here.
It has the songs in the order that they will appear on the CD but these are not the mastered versions of the songs. We are planning to release the CD in the fall of 2010.

Soft as a Stone

DT has a new song (finished late February) called Soft as a Stone.

Distant Towers south

is there anybody out there???? oh well, no matter, I'll pretend there is.

The Distant Towers south studio upgrade is complete. Not completely tweaked in but complete. The studio now sports the following...
--New quad core PC with two flat screen monitors, 500 GB main HD and 1 TB second HD
--New KRK Rokit RP8 monitors with an RP10S subwoofer
--M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R audio interface, rack mounted
--Furman power conditioner/rack mounted outlet strip
--Samson monitor stands
--Addictive Drummer
--Various cables, mic stands, etc.

Well, guess it doesn't sound like a lot but what it is a brand new studio with this new equipment. All the instruments and mics are hooked up and all levels are controlled from the M-Audio interface. It allows us to lay down live jam tracks and the quality is good enough to allow us to work on songs in the studio together and then work on overdubs later. Not that we are trying to move to a more traditional studio work ethic but we like having the capability to do it when it suits us. Also the latency for the Addictive Drummer is so miminal that Robbie can now play the Yamaha kit while listening to the AD sounds. That was a big and pleasant surprise.
